ActiveCell™ technology

ActiveCell is ResMed's exclusive, auto-stabilizing cushion technology, which:

  • Allows the mask to automatically adapt and respond to changes during sleep, such as changes in body position, and
  • Requires less headgear tension for an optimal seal.

AdaptiSeal™

This flexible cushion adjusts to a patient's face for all-night comfort and a better seal

Air vents

The ultra-quiet air vents on ResMed masks are designed to minimize airflow intensity, reduce noise and provide excellent CO2 washout.

Anti-asphyxia valve (AAV)

All ResMed full face masks have an anti-asphyxia valve, which is an important safety feature. In the unlikely event that the flow generator stops delivering air (ie, during a power failure), the anti-asphyxia valve allows patients to inhale fresh air from the room rather than re-breathing exhaled CO2. A thin silicone membrane is suspended over a series of openings, or valve ports, in the elbow of the mask frame. When the flow generator delivers positive pressure through the mask to the patient, the membrane covers the valve ports. When there is no airflow to the mask, the membrane opens so the patient is able to inhale fresh air.

Breathe-O-Prene™ headgear

Breathe-O-Prene headgear is made from a material that draws moisture away from the skin, keeping the patient dry and preventing chafing and irritation.

CO2 washout

All ResMed masks have excellent CO2 washout because of the high flow rates, as well as the placement and size of the exhalation vent. This prevents patients from re-breathing CO2. This is important because re-breathing CO2 can increase the patient's work of breathing and lead to headaches, increased heart rate and CO2 retention in the blood. It can also give patients a sense of suffocation.

Decoupling system

The Swift™ FX uses a unique decoupling system to prevent the patient's movements and forces on the mask from dislodging the seal. The decoupling system significantly reduces tube drag and works with the dual-wall pillows to absorb the shock of movement and keep the mask in a stable position.

Dual-wall Spring Air™ cushion

The dual-wall Spring Air cushion provides a comfortable, high-performance seal.

EasyClick clips

EasyClick clips are featured on the new Airfit N10 mask and offer self-alignment with an audible click for a fast and secure fitting.

Flexi-Tube

This innovative tube is ultra-light and flexible yet highly durable, offering patients full freedom of movement without compromising seal. The tube is integrated into the frame and designed to seamlessly stretch and bend 360° to accommodate patient movement during sleep, without compromising mask seal.

Full face masks

Full face masks (FFM) cover the nose and mouth. If patients breathe through their mouth during sleep, this coverage will still allow them to get effective therapy without leak.

InfinitySeal™ cushion

This adaptive silicone cushion features specially designed loops and varying thickness levels to provide comfort and stability throughout therapy use.

Latex-free

All ResMed masks are latex-free. Mask cushions are made of 100% silicone.

Mask leak

Air leaks from the mask typically occur when the mask doesn't fit in all positions. While a mask may fit appropriately when the patient is on his or her back, the mask may shift and leak as s/he moves during the night. The mask may also start to leak as it gets older and the materials wear down.

MicroFit dial

The MicroFit dial can be set to 24 different positions for personalized comfort. Each turn of the dial moves the forehead pads by a 1-mm increment. The dial locks into position and remains there during sleep.

Mirage™ dual-wall technology

ResMed mask cushions feature dual-wall technology that consists of:

  • A thick inner membrane for support and stability, and
  • A thin outer membrane for a gentle seal. Dual-wall technology allows the airflow to create a soft and comfortable cushion with an effective seal.

Mouth leak

Ongoing nasal problems often cause persistent mouth breathing (and vice versa), which can lead to mouth leak. Some people may "mouth breathe" without an obvious cause, while others may do it because of a cold, allergies or alcohol consumption. The amount of mouth leak can vary from patient to patient.

Moving membrane

The contoured cushion membrane around the sensitive nasal bridge area rolls and inflates to gently meet the nose rather than stretch over it, therefore reducing irritation.

Nasal masks

Nasal masks cover just the nose and often have a forehead support. A nasal mask is good for patients who want a standard mask for CPAP therapy.

Nasal pillows

Nasal pillows rest at the nostrils without protruding right into the nose. These masks are minimalistic and less obtrusive for patients.

Pressure port

Pressure ports are places in the mask where oxygen tubes and/or pressure lines can be directly connected to the mask, enabling measurement of oxygen and pressure.

QuickFit™ elastic headgear

The AirFit P10 uses the QuickFit elastic headgear with unique split-strap design to provide stability and adjustability with minimal facial contact. If adjustment is needed, simply spread the upper and lower straps apart to loosen, or draw them closer together to tighten.

Quick-release headgear clips

The quick-release headgear clips make it easy to remove the mask and put it back on without refitting or adjusting each time it is worn.

Quick-release swivel

The quick-release swivel adds flexibility and allows patients to easily remove tubing without having to take the mask off.

QuietAir™ vent technology

The AirFit N30, P10, P30i, F20, F30 and AirTouch F20 have QuietAir venting technology that quietly directs exhaled air, so it's barely noticeable to patients and their bed partners. This technology makes these ResMed's quietest masks yet.

Rotating barrel

The rotating barrel allows patients to customize their seal. It adjusts pillows to the most convenient angle at 15-degree increments and stays in place to ensure a comfortable and secure seal without impeding airflow.

SoftEdge™ headgear

SoftEdge headgear is gentle on the skin and features premium rolled-edge fabric that is comfortable to wear and designed to reduce facial marking.

Soft sleeves/soft wraps

Soft sleeves/soft wraps are optional sleeves that cover the headgear stability arms for enhanced comfort on the cheeks and an extra defense against facial markings.

Spring Air Technology™

Spring Air Technology is a cushion technology that prevents the frame from touching the face. It features an incorporated "spring" design wherein the seal is optimized due to the built-in elasticity of the cushion.

Spring-flex tubing

This revolutionary new tube:

  • Stretches to 178% of its length
  • Has a stable swivel connection
  • Provides seal and stability
  • Minimizes tube drag

Spring frame

This frame stabilizes the mask on the face but is still soft enough to accommodate user movement during sleep.

SpringFit frame

Frame style on the AirFit N30i that is designed to automatically adjust to different facial profiles, helping provide an accurate fit the first time.

Squeeze-tab elbow

Makes it quick and easy to attach and detach the elbow from the frame, allowing for quick and convenient temporary removal.

UltraCompact cushion

Cushion style on the AirFit F30 and F30i that is designed to seal securely at the bottom of the nose to prevent nasal bridge discomfort and red marks.
